Swine Husbandry Practices in Ethiopia: A Review

In Ethiopia, swine are mainly raised under small scale production systems of urban and peri-urban areas. The sector has got very little attention compared to other livestock components. This happened due religious social reasons. Swine breeds in Ethiopia consist exotic their crosses. indigenous pig is an animal which been neglected wild. Although smallholder farmers make a contribution the sector, they discouraged constrained by issues relevant culture religion, addition feed shortage, disease, inaccessible market, lack clear pork marketing system, transport, poor extension veterinary services, market shortage land as major constraints Ethiopia. paper highlights Ethiopian industry, role played farmers, recommendations policy makers stakeholders on way promoting farmers.
